| Buttock sciatica symptom The sciatic nerve is the largest in the human body, almost of finger size in width. When stress is caused on either the vertebral column or the muscles holding the sciatic nerve in the buttock region near the hip, it causes acute pain in the buttock region, standing and sitting causes unbearable pain to the patient.
