A) Types of exercise and therapy for siatica
The exercise should be prescribed depending on the cause of the pain, so its extremely important to have a thorough diagnosis, before choosing an appropriate exercise plan. The chief cause of sciatica is herniated disc in which the patient experiences pain moving upward from leg to the disc position. In that case bending exercises wherein patient stretches downwards, is suggested as the part of the exercise plan. One has to lie on the stomach protruding the front body upwards with the support of the elbow. It has to be held in this position for about 30 seconds per repetition and 5 to 10 repetitions should be taken up at a time. At times minor massage therapy and aroma therapy does wonders. Physical exercises should be taken up for sometime and then light exercises like swimming and walking has to be undertaken for quite sometime mandatorily or continued for lifetime voluntarily. Those exercises are insisted upon which makes muscles stronger and partial Sit-ups are one of them.
B) Time schedule of the exercise for siatic patent
The time schedule of the exercise should be arranged so as the patient is rest assured. One has to lie on the stomach, so doing exercises empty stomach assists much. So such exercises should be scheduled early morning, and before lunch and dinner. Simple exercises of holding the leg in the air can be done anytime during the day. Apart from it proper rest has to be taken and stress on particular body part should be reduced keeping the body relaxed.
C) Diet during the exercise and therapy
Diet has to be controlled and healthy, nutritious diet should be laid stress upon. Food rich in minerals and proteins must be increased and cholesterol level should be within the limits. Fruits should be included as a part of the diet and should be taken after an hour or so after taking due exercise. Yoga and meditation helps keep body fit and increases the appetite. Specific food intake which causes acidity should be ignored. In short, balanced diet has to be worked upon
